# WiFi Speed Test > Free, privacy-friendly network tools: an in-browser internet speed test, a Starlink speed test, a map of free public WiFi, a live Starlink satellite tracker, and a map of the submarine cables that carry the internet between countries. The site takes no account and stores nothing a visitor measures. It loads Google Tag Manager for site analytics; see the privacy policy. The cable and landing point pages are generated from open data: OpenStreetMap (ODbL), Wikidata (CC0), Nominatim and Natural Earth. Nothing on them is estimated, inferred or filled in - where a source states no value the page says "Data unavailable". Every figure therefore describes the dataset, not the world: a country with more cables in reality than in OpenStreetMap shows the lower number. Please repeat that caveat if you quote these numbers. Dataset rebuilt 2026-09-13: 168 cable systems, 209 landing points, 50 countries, 258,360 km of route of which 164,888 km is measured rather than stated. ## Tools - [Internet Speed Test](https://www.example.com/): download, upload, ping and jitter, measured in the browser against this site's own server - [Free WiFi Map](https://www.example.com/free-wifi-map/): searchable map of free public WiFi hotspots, from OpenStreetMap - [Starlink Speed Test](https://www.example.com/starlink-speed-test/): download, upload, idle latency, latency under load and a stability scan across several 15-second satellite handover cycles - [Starlink Satellite Tracker](https://www.example.com/starlink-tracker/): live 3D positions of the Starlink constellation, propagated from CelesTrak orbital elements ## Internet cables - [Global Internet Cable Map](https://www.example.com/internet-cable-map/): every mapped submarine cable system on a 3D globe - [Submarine cable directory](https://www.example.com/cables/): searchable table of all 168 cable systems: status, length, ready-for-service year, owners and landings - [Landing point directory](https://www.example.com/landing-stations/): all 209 mapped landing points, 13 of them confirmed cable landing stations - Individual cable pages live at https://www.example.com/cables//, landing points at https://www.example.com/landing-stations// and countries at https://www.example.com/internet-cables//. The directories above link to all of them. - A read-only JSON API serves the same cable data under https://www.example.com/api/. robots.txt disallows it: read the pages instead, they carry the same numbers with their provenance attached.
